PARKS AND KITES

We had wonderful weather this weekend. It was a little chilly - due to the wind - but that proved useful to us so it was fine. We took Hillary to the park on Saturday afternoon. Breanna wasn't interested in going and Connor was at his friends house so it was just Hillary. She loves the park and I had been putting it off for a couple of days so there was no getting out of it. They have put in a really nice playground over by the library so we went there. She was too scared to sit on the swing the right way - but was pretty cute hanging on her belly on it. I told her to smile and she struck her "thinking" pose. I don't know where she's picked this up from but she taps her finger on her face and says "thinking, thinking, thinking". Then she'll stick her finger in the air and say "I have an idea!" She's picked it up from somewhere because she never REALLY has an idea, she just likes to say that.

Later that afternoon we went to fly kites. Again Breanna wasn't interested in going (she is such a teenager) so it was just Connor and Hillary. It could not have been more perfect. Hillary has a pink My Little Pony kite and Connors is Spongebob. Both flew fabulously. Hillary managed to hold on to hers the whole time but Connor had to chase his across the park a couple times. They both had a grand time. I was able to get pictures of Hillary with her kite because she didn't let out that much string. Connor however - let out all 50 feet of string so all I could get was the kite or him - not both.

Teddy's Clothes

Hillary came out in this outfit yesterday. First she looks pretty scraggly because they had been to the park and it was pretty windy. Then she'd put her PJ's back on. And apparently her wardrobe isn't big enough because she stole the sweater from her teddy bear. I don't even know how she got it on it is soo small. She really liked it though. I had to force her to take it off. She has tried to put Nina's (the baby doll) clothes on, but they are really too small and they don't stretch like the sweater. Someday she's going to cost me a lot of money in clothes.

So it was pretty sketchy weather this weekend so we nixed the zoo and went to the circus instead. The kids LOVED it. There were all the ususal things... elephants, acrobats, clowns, dog and ponies, tightrope walkers etc. Breanna will tell you the best part was when the tightrope walker fell off the rope. Don't worry, he caught the rope on the way down and was fine. Connor would tell you the best part was the motorcycle riders in the "steel ball of death" thing. Hillary loved all the animal acts and playing in the gravel. I liked watching the kids have fun. Check out the pictures at the bottom of the blog. It was hard to take them because of the distance and the lights - but a few came out.

Wahoo! a new background. I chose this one titled "popcorn popping" because as I was making one of my almost daily trips to the grocery store yesterday and I noticed all the trees and flowers bloomed on Monday when it was 80degrees. Sadly it was snowing yesterday and again today so it will probably kill all the blossoms and we won't get fruit this year. Sometimes I hate mother nature. But my blog will stay warm and sunny at least. We have a trip to the zoo planned for this weekend so hopefully it will be warm again by then.

Hillary's favorite place to play is the bathroom. If she's not filling her teacups with water from the sink - she's playing in the toilet. It has inspired me to keep it VERY clean. She has also discovered that when she is going potty - she doesn't have to fear falling in. In fact she does it on purpose almost every time. Some times I'll go in and find her just hanging out with her butt in the water. She also gives herself swirlies just for fun. Crazy kid.

Breanna's 13th birtday was on the 4th. She is officially a teenager. Hard to believe I have one. She mostly got clothes for her birthday. For her party she just wanted to have one friend over for bowling and a sleepover. So we went bowling on Friday night. It was fun. Me, Connor and Hillary also got to go with them. Sadly Hillary beat everyone by a pretty big margin. But it was fun. Then we came home, pigged out, and went to bed. The next morning we had skinny pancakes (known to most of the world as crepes) with strawberries and whip cream. It was as usual delicious. I think she had a good birthday over all. And she got a lot of stuff.

Okay so I'm slow on the uptake. I'm going to do some "back-blogging" to cover the last few major events. The first is Easter. It was about 2 1/2 weeks ago. On the Saturday before, we went to the traditional easter egg hunt in Orem. Hillary of course raked in the eggs and candy. Connor got a few pieces and was happy with that. Bre sadly was too old to hunt this year. Everyone had a good time and luckily it didn't rain until after we left. We colored eggs that night. All the kids had fun - but especially Hillary. This is the year where she is finally old enough to participate in things like that. It's always so fun to see her get excited about new thins. Sunday was nice. The kids all had new clothes and they were cute. We ended up getting up at about 6:30 because Hillary was awake and I couldn't keep her out of the baskets any longer. Everyone got something they wanted and liked and all were happy. Breanna was the luckiest as she finally got a cell phone. We hid it and then called it until she found it. It was just in the chair with her basket - but it took her about 20 minutes to find it. We had the traditional ham dinner that night. Strangely (or perhaps not) my menu was almost identical to Mom's. It was delicious though.

My hope in creating this blog - is that I can keep more connected family far away. Breanna turned 13 yesterday. Yes, and actual teenager. We're down to 5 years before she graduate highschool. I can remember thinking that would never happen - now I think it will happen too soon. So here's to documenting our lives better.
